Stella has sent the 1000th VIE to Germany!
You may not have known that Stella foosball also sells foosball tables in Germany under a brand that was acquired in 2013: Deutscher Meister. This company was created in Bavaria in 1950 and quickly became the reference for foosball in Germany and spread beyond its borders as it was its foosball tables that popularized the game in the United States. Indeed, in 1960, a GI who was stationed in an American barracks in Bavaria, Bud Watcher, discovered with his colleagues the joys of table soccer. When he returned home, he decided to bring a container of foosball tables with him to launch the product without his country. It was an immediate success. Many foosball tables were shipped to the United States to meet the high demand. More than 200,000 of these Deutscher Meister tables were sold worldwide, bringing several generations of players and enthusiasts to life. In the 1990's foosball lost its appeal to jukeboxes and arcade games. Deutscher Meister was hit hard by this market downturn and without the acquisition of Stella in 2013, this part of European heritage could have disappeared.
Stella is convinced of the potential of the brand with its rich history and legendary products. Since 2013, the product range has been expanding and sales are gradually picking up. Appetite comes with eating and so Stella decided to intensify efforts to give a boost to the historic brand. Thus, Damien Convers, who had just finished his master's degree as a member of the Stella baby-football sales team, moved to Germany to open an office in Cologne and dedicate himself to the development of Deutscher Meister. It is a contract of Volontariat International de Entreprise, proposed by Business France, which is chosen to offer all the necessary flexibility to the company as well as to the employee.
One month after Damien Convers took up his position, Business France announced that he was the 1000th VIE to be posted in Germany to date. This distinction rewards the work of the Embassy and Business France to promote this contract, which allows young people to expatriate under advantageous conditions. It is also the opportunity for Stella baby-foot to put forward its project and initiative during the award ceremony which took place in Berlin in the presence of the Ambassador and the Director of Business France in Germany.
