How to maintain your foosball table?
Baby-foots are timeless. For decades, baby-foots have been present in our coffee games culture, especially in the north of France where Stella has been offering its know-how for over 90 years.
These are robust pieces that go through time and generations of players within families. But what is the secret of youth for a foosball table to be in the same state from year to year?
To do this there are two actions to perform regularly in order to ensure that the table football is in good condition and that the sensations of games are the same as during your first game:
Grease Foosball Bars
First it is necessary to grease the players' bars every 10 hours of play. By using the bars during your games, it is normal that a resistance is created. To remedy this, simply apply a drop of oil to the inside and outside of the bars. A cloth will help you spread the oil on the bar. To grease the bar of your table football, we advise you to use an oil specially developed for this purpose. Silicone oil is often used to grease baby football bars because it is non-toxic, water resistant and leaves no sticky residue.
It is important not to use mineral oil or any other oil for this purpose as it could damage the foosball or interfere with the game.
We also recommend not to use too much oil as this can make the bar slippery and make the game harder to control.
In general, we recommend that you refer to the specific maintenance instructions provided by your foosball manufacturer for specific lubrication and maintenance recommendations.
Clean a table football gerflex mat
You have to keep an eye on the general condition of the foosball table and especially on the game mat.
Especially in case of stains on the carpet, it is necessary to clean the carpet directly to avoid impregnation and therefore degradation of the playing sensations. To clean a table football gerflex mat, you can follow these steps:
Step 1: Vacuum the Gerflex carpet to remove any visible dust or debris. If you do not have a hand vacuum cleaner, we recommend dusting the carpet with a clean cloth.
Step 2: Mix a small amount of mild detergent (for example: dish soap) into a bucket or warm water container.
Step 3: Apply the cleaning solution to the Gerflex carpet with a soft cloth or sponge. Do not completely immerse the mat in the water, it is attached to the table football.
Step 4: Gently rub the Garflex mat in circular motions to remove dirt and stains. If necessary, a soft brush can be used to remove stubborn dirt.
Step 5: Rinse the Garflex with clean water to remove any soap residue. Make sure the carpet is thoroughly rinsed. Step 6: Wipe the Gerflex carpet with a clean towel to remove excess water.
Let the football table completely dry before using it again. It is important not to use hot water or bleach to clean your Gerflex carpet as this could damage the material.
We also recommend that you avoid aggressive chemicals and alcohol-based cleaners, as they can cause damage.
Clean your foosball box and feet
To keep your foosball body clean in MDF or HPL, follow these steps:
Remove all accessories and balls from the game table.
For a MDF (Indoor Table Football):
Use a dry cloth to remove dust and dirt from the surface of the crate and feet. If necessary, stubborn dirt and stains can be removed with a slightly damp cloth.
Do not use too much water as this could damage the laminate. If the task is particularly stubborn, you can add a small amount of mild dish soap to the water to clean the surface of the box.
Wipe the surface of the crate with a clean, dry cloth to remove moisture.
It is important not to use aggressive cleaning agents such as acid or solvent-based cleaners as they can damage the melamine surface. By following these simple steps, you can safely clean your MDF table football with melamine finish and keep your gaming table in good condition.
For a HPL (outdoor table football):
Use a mild detergent or detergent to remove stubborn stains from the foosball box.
Avoid using abrasives as they can scratch the surface of the HPL.
Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water to remove any cleaning or detergent residue.
Dry the box surface and feet with a clean, dry cloth.
Do not use sharp objects to clean the housing to avoid damaging the HPL surface. Also avoid using solvent-based cleaners or bleach. Following these steps should effectively clean your HPL foosball body while avoiding damage.
Change your spare parts
But it is also possible that some parts may need to be replaced, despite heavy maintenance. In particular, you need to keep an eye on the nylon rings and rubber protections that are the two elements directly impacted by your parts.
Stella offers spare parts to give a second youth to your foosball table. It is even possible to see for a total maintenance of your foosball thanks to Christophe who will be happy to refurbish your foosball table!
