Objective : Reach a score of 0 before your opponents.

Game Start and Selection of the First Player :

To begin a game of 301 or 501 darts, it is first necessary to determine who will throw first. Several methods can be used for this purpose. For example, players can play heads or tails, or even throw a dart at the target to determine who will be closest to the center. The player who gets closest to the bullseye will then be the first to throw, followed by the other players in order, from closest to farthest.

Gameplay of 301 and 501

Each player has three darts per turn. They take turns throwing them, alternating with their opponent. During each turn, players can aim at any area of the target. Once all three darts have been thrown, the total score is calculated based on the points scored by each dart and subtracted from the player's total score.

End of 301 and 501 Game

The game ends when one of the players reaches exactly zero points with a throw of three darts. At this point, the player is said to be "on the finish". For example, if they have 32 points remaining, they can finish by throwing a dart into double 16. However, it's important to note that a player must reach zero with a throw on a double segment.

If a player goes below zero while attempting to reach the exact score, the entire dart throw is cancelled. This situation is called a "bust". The player will then start their next turn with the same score as before their last turn.

In official tournaments, electronic dartboards are often used. They directly display each player's score on an LED or LCD screen. However, in more informal settings like bars or home game rooms, scores are often recorded on a traditional scoreboard or scoreboard.
