Terms of Stella table soccer
The Table Soccer is an intergenerational game, with which we spend a lot of time relaxing and enjoying ourselves. But foosball isn't just an activity we play with friends and family, nor is it simply a sport, it's a whole universe. And like every universe, it comes with its own vocabulary and technical terms, all of which are necessary to get the most out of your foosball exchanges. Here's a dictionary on the world of table soccer, to help you get the most out of your games.
A
Abacus: Keeps score and tracks the progress of the match.
Abacus ball: Essential for keeping track of scores and scoring goals.
Aerial shot: A shot that leaves the field but lands in it.
Ashtray: Specific to cafe foosball, located in the 4 corners.
Attack: Offensive phase where players attempt to score goals.
Attacker: Offensive player scores goals, launches attacks.
B
Ball exit: When the ball leaves the field.
Bar: The crossbars to which the players are attached.
Bearing: Part of the table soccer in which the bar slides.
Bias stick: Guides strategic passes on the field.
Block the ball in trade: When you block the ball in front of the player.
Blocking the ball on cassette: When you block the ball behind the player.
Body: Central structure.
Buts: Used when a ball crosses the cages, to win points.
C
Cage: Synonymous with goal.
Cendar: When the ball lands in one of the ashtrays.
Coin-operated: Table soccer with a device for inserting coins to start the game.
Commitment: At the start of each game or after a goal has been scored.
Competition balls: Approved balls for consistent play.
Cork balls: For precision, control and fluidity in competition.
Corner: Forms the outer edge of the pitch, for bouncing shots.
Cover: Cladding around the sides of your foosball cabinet.
Crossbar: Connects players and controls movement.
D
Defense: Phase when players protect their goal against opposing attacks.
Demi: Refers to the central players, when a goal is scored by them we say "Demi" and 2 points are put on hold and will be awarded to the next scorer.
Double: An action that allows the ball to bounce off the bar twice.
F
Fanny: Expression for losing a game without scoring a single goal, but also a punishment for the losers.
Feets: The supports on which the entire structure of the game rests.
Fishing: Prohibited action, consisting of retrieving the ball from the cages before it falls.
Flange bearing: Located at each end of the bars and serve as a support for the players.
Flocking: Process of covering the playing field, often with felt or fabric, for a smooth, durable playing surface.
Forward: Players positioned up front attack and defend simultaneously.
Four-bars: The classic configuration of bars on either side of the table soccer table.
G
Gamelle: To drop the ball into the goal and then immediately bring it back out onto the pitch.
Goal: Synonym for goal.
Goalkeeper: The player responsible for protecting the goal.
Goal zone: The area around the goal, crucial for defense and attack.
Gosse: To make a score of zero or negative.
Grosse: To block the ball in front of a player and shoot directly with that same player without moving him.

Inner: The players' inner side on the bars, used to block opposing shots.
J
Jacks: Parts that keep the foosball table perfectly level at all times.
Jump balls: Make the ball jump over the side benches to surprise the opponent.
K
Kicker: Players attached to the bars who hit the ball.
L
Lob: When the ball passes over the goal bar, 2 points are scored.
M
Mat: Smooth, resistant playing surface for fluid movement.
Marker balls: Placed inside players to indicate their position on the field.
Median line: The division between the two halves of the pitch.
N
Numbering: The specific arrangement of players on the bars.
O
Offside: An offence where a player is closer to the goal than the ball and the midfield line.
P
Passing: The action of transferring the ball between players on the same team.
Plastic balls: Economical, durable, lightweight, ideal for casual play.
Player: Figurines mounted on bars representing teams in competitions and enabling play.
Pissette: To score a goal with the player furthest from the handle on the attacker's bar; this is a forbidden cost.
R
Rake: Forbidden action if the attacker doesn't touch the ball; it's a pass from the half-backs to the attackers, intercepted by the opposing half-backs.
Recovery: The recovery of a ball after a rebound or shot.
Ring: Allows the bar to slide on the rod.
Rocket: Technique where players move the bars quickly for a quick attack.
Rod support ball: Holds the rods in place, allowing fluid and precise movements.
Roulette: Consists of making a complete turn of a player to shoot, it is only authorized for 1 turn.
S
Self-locking: Mechanism maintaining player stability.
Shock absorbers: In the corner of the table, absorb the impact of balls.
Shooting: Different techniques for hitting the ball and scoring goals.
Side strips: Keep the ball in play and prevent it from falling out.
Soap: Cheating by using the hand to move the ball.
Snake: Fluid, unpredictable playing technique with rapid bar movements.
Stabilizer: Device to prevent the table from moving during play.
Steel stop: Stabilizes the table soccer bars, ensuring smooth, precise play.
Strategy: The plan of action adopted by a team to win the match.
Sweep: Roll the ball under a player's foot or pass it from one player to another to destabilize the ball.

Table soccer: The table game also known as kicker or baby.
Tackle: Unsportsmanlike conduct: tort bar to hit opposing players.
Team: Group of players working together to score goals.
Threaded rod: Metal part that connects players to the bars.
Tracing/Traced mat: Marking of playing surface lines to delimit playing areas.

Victory: The ultimate goal of every team.
W
Wall: A solid defense against opposing shots.
Wrist Shot: A shooting technique using mainly the wrist.

X-treme Moves: Spectacular, creative moves to impress opponents.
